The earliest City[]

The first city was on 0.01, 0.02 and 0.03, it was very simple, it has no hills, missing buildings, and no bases for the players, the players would spawn on the corners of the map.

The map on the hud was wierd, it shows lines wich represents streets, trading locations and the team spawns.



0.05 City[]

Overview2

This made the city look alot more interesting, cooler and fancy. They added hills, added buildings on the empty concrete squares, and added other buildings, like a Bank, Car Parking, and more important buildings

like the Bases and the Factory.

The map on the hud is now easier to identify the places, the streets and etc.

0.06 City[]

Not too much has been added in 0.06, but they added a new sky, new textures, a new building and tunnels.

0.07 City[]

Overview3

This is for sure, the most competetive and well done city. The city is now alot more interesting, now there is less generic buildings, That big building on the middle was replaced to a park, and on the side of it a double building with stairs, and another double building behind the Garage B. New textures has been added.

0.08 City[]

We do not have a definitive city for 0.08, as it had changed alot through development.

It started off as a very symetric city and open city with every block being surrounded by streets, and all having the same sizes, without slopes, mostly flat streets, with similar buildings from 0.07, but with properly alligned textures and advertisement signs. Later with interiors, models, and dynamic breakable windows, and more variation with the buildings, mail boxes would be spawned around the city, and in the center of the city, a river was added, separating the city in 2 parts, which would be the defining feature that every version from here to 0.25 would go with.

0.15 City[]

Many skyscrapers were being raised here, and a sense of urban metropolis.

Labs for acquisition missions were introduced around this time.

The city was officially claimed to be inspired by the city called Pheonix, in Arizona.

There was an ocean surrounding the map, without walls surrounding it, if you fell on it, you would just die in the void.]


0.20 City[]

Overview4

Following the footsteps of the previous cities, it was however simplified, and had another face lift, with a smaller scale, but a bigger variety in buildings, with more complex shapes and colors, but simplified with alot of empty interiors, another bridge was added in the west, and the city was surrounded with walls, but with the ocean remaining.

The river walls were flatened as well, as if they were like walls instead of slopes, making it impossible (?) to come back if you fell there.

A fourth team was added, Nexaco, which was originally intended to be green instead of red.

0.22 City[]

We do not have 0.22, so we can not screenshot it.

It is the same as the previous 2 versions, except, with an expanded east side of the map, alongside with the addition of the 5th team, Pentacom.

0.23 City[]

Generally the same as 0.22, altho with a new landscape engine, and the removal of the walls surrounding the city.

With the addition of the landscape, you will spawn outside the city, and will have to take a train to go to it.

In a minor revision of 0.23, the old spawn building turned into a hospital.




0.24 City[]

This was a major update on the city, everything was replaced and re-designed, modernized with a new city format, the layout is still however heavily inspired by the previous city.

The bank and clothing stores were removed, howeve, but there are left overs, a gun store was added.

The Megacorp sky scraper is a notable addition, inspired by the 0.16 Megacorp building.

The new car dealer was inspired by a real Nissan car dealer.

0.25 City[]

Generally the same as 0.24, however, the clothing stores and banks were brought back, along with billboards that players could buy their own advertisements.

0.26 City[]

This was mostly for testing the new resources for the next update.

This version only had a new Race Day, a complete make over from the 0.07 Race Day mission with better guidance.

This city looks very unfinished, with alot of place holder filler brick buildings, but it has an interesting concept of having multiple cities, which would be explored better in the (foreshadowing) 0.27 unused World mode city.

A much more interesting clothing store was added, lettings the players pick alot more colors for their suits, along with specific suit models and types.

0.27 Unused World City[]

This update with the removal of Round mode, was originally going to have a more fleshed out World mode, there still is an unfinished working new World mode that was updated from 0.25 left over in this version.

This is an updated 0.26 city, but with more buildings, updated variety, and, well, generally more to it, it is however still very unfinished.

Pay phones can spawn around some specified streets that perfectly match with this map, if World mode is loaded with the used Round mode map, it will still spawn them in those specific spots, but would be under the map and in thin air.

This map was used in 0.36's early tests, it would probably serve as the new World mode city, but would eventually have a new city made from scratch by Brendon, altho he stopped working on Sub Rosa around the time he was working on this city, leaving it quite unfinished.

0.27 City[]

This was a remake of the demo versions' map. And would serve as the foundation for every city after this version, as they were mostly just updated and tweaked on top of this one.

Even tho every map after it would be based on it, alot has changed since as well, mostly with majority of the buildings being updated to be their own unique buildings instead of generic buildings, or adding windows and interiors to those buildings, and alot of aesthetic changes. But overall, the layout is generally the same.

In 0.32 the OXS corner of the city, the "Old Town", was being replaced with "Villa" as you know today, that is alot more open and grassy. The Old Town, as the name says, had emphasized on alot of old buildings, it was closed instead of open as it is now, it was only fully replaced by Villa in 0.33, whereas in 0.32 it was a mixture of both. It was the place that changed the most ideally.
